Record Comments:  This Hot Topic exclusive picture disc record was limited to only 4,500 pressings.  The copyright date on the disc shows 2003.  However, it first appeared in Hot Topic stores in May of 2014 in conjunction with the release of another picture disc record for The Little Mermaid.  The 2003 copyright date may be explained by another Lion King picture disc record that was released in 2003 that includes a mostly blue image of Mufasa in the sky and Simba on Pride Rock on catalog #60858-1.

The disc is housed in a clear plastic sleeve with no inserts.  Tracks six through nine are instrumentals composed by Has Zimmer and contain some chorus backing.  The Disney cast of music credits for this album includes Elton John, Has Zimmer, Joseph Williams, Carmen Twillie, Lebo M., Jason Weaver, Rowan Atkinson, Laura Williams, Jeremy Irons, Whoopi Goldberg, Cheech Marin, Jim Cummings, Nathan Lane, Ernie Sabella, Sally Dworsky and Kristie Edwards.
